Recently we've been talking about client feedback quite a lot. One
theme that has come up a few of times in the past couple weeks is the
issue of clients who are receiving massages from a regular therapist,
being reluctant to tell the therapist about things they are not enjoying
during the massage. This may be areas of the body the therapist is
working, the way the therapist is working or some other matter. Whilst
the client enjoys the massage on the whole enough to rebook, their
experience isn't quite as ideal as they would like. As therapists, we urge
you to let us know what you don't like about your massage so that we can
turn your experience from a good one to a great one!
We would like
to welcome a new therapist to our team, Stephanie, who is a highly
experienced and skilled therapist. Her profile is listed here.
Congratulations to the latest winner of the prize draw, Meagan of
Waverley.
Best Wishes Richard and the Eastern Suburbs Mobile
Massage team.

Sciatica |
 |
Many people claim to suffer from sciatica but what is sciatica?
Sciatica is a pain, usually in the back of the leg caused by compression,
irritation, or inflammation of the sciatic nerve. There are several
reasons why the sciatic nerve could become compressed, entrapped, or
irritated. In "true" sciatica, the nerve roots can be compressed by
herniated, degnerated or displaced lumbar spinal disc. There are also
other conditions which can mimic sciaticic symptoms such as Piriformis
Syndrome where the sciatic nerve is entrapped by the piriformis muscle in
the buttocks.

Eastern Suburbs Service Providers |
 |
Part of our role as massage therapists is being able to refer our
clients on to other healthcare professionals when massage is not the most
appropriate modality. A couple of years ago we asked our Inner West
clients and newsletter subscribers for recommendations for health
professionals in the Inner West.
We would now like to ask the same
of our Eastern Suburbs Clients and Subscribers. Just visit the form on the
Inner West Massage website and (hopefully) we'll start to collate a list
of recommendations.

Lomi Lomi Massage Course |
 |
I recently completed a three day massage course on the Central Coast in
Wyee in Lomi Lomi massage through Heartworks
Lomi Lomi. Now Lomi Lomi is the Hawaiian word for Massage. Literally
meaning to push, pull and knead and there are various forms of Lomi Lomi.
Heartworks Lomi Lomi is a healing system which brings balance, restoration
and heart- opening peace to the body.
The course is full- on for
the three days, each participant gives and receives about 10 massages! No
previous massage experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn, to
experience and to give a little. Even if you just fancy having a few days
out of Sydney doing something a little different (the course is fully
catered for with fantastic vegetarian food).
I would certainly
recommend Heartworks Lomi Lomi Level 1, great value, great company and
great fun. The next one will be in August (although have to admit I would
probably recommend waiting until the weather warms up a little and go for
the Sept or Oct options. Course dates are here
.
