Welcome to the latest edition of Massage Moves and congratulations to the August winner of the draw for a free home massage, Kate of Bondi Junction.

A few of us have been working on a new venture, Massage and Pamper Parties (in particular for Hens Night in and around central Sydney/Eastern Suburbs). So if you are interested in getting a group of massage/beauty therapists to visit your party (be it for hens, bridal party, girls night, birthday, event) then please check out

Is Your Bra giving you a Headache?

One of the most common conditions that we see as massage therapists is tension in the neck and shoulders caused by poor posture. Shoulders are rounded forward causing the head to be further forward than is ideal. When this happens ,the muscles of the upper back and neck work harder to compensate. Headaches or stiff neck may result.

There are any number of reasons why this may occur but a common cause may be an illfitting or incorrect bra size. Estimates vary for how many women are wearing the wrong bra with some studies finding between a third and half of women may be wearing ill-fitting bras.

    Running and Arthritis

It seems logical to assume that because running is the type of activity that produces ‘wear and tear’ injuries and osteoarthritis is a ‘wear and tear’ disease that there should be a link between running and arthritis.

However research has indicated that this may not be true.

    Popular Complementary Health Modalities

In a review chiropractic newsletter, it was stated that chiropractors are the most commonly consulted complementary practitioners (based on a US study of over 9000). Whilst statistics rarely tell the whole story, it could just as easily be argued that massage therapy is more popular.
